Lu‑177 is a radioactive isotope used in targeted radionuclide therapy. It is the active component of AKIR001, which is currently being evaluated in a Phase I clinical study at Karolinska University Hospital. The treatment is being tested in patients with inoperable or metastatic solid tumours, including lung cancer, head and neck cancer, thyroid cancer and gynaecological cancers.
Isotope deal boosts Uppsala radiotherapy company
Uppsala‑based Akiram Therapeutics has signed an agreement with Germany’s ITM for the supply of lutetium‑177 to support the continued development of the company’s radiopharmaceutical therapy AKIR001.
